So long, no see...

Jeez, I haven't posted in quite a while... So I'll update using bullets. *Choir Concert on Sunday, 3p.m. I actually auditioned for and got solos in the Mass we're singing, I'm really pumped about it all, and have been working quite hard to make up for the fact that I'm not experienced with the voice... *The Girlfriend and I have been dating for over a year now. (Moment of Silence for her) *Bought an antiquated POS (point of sale, although "piece-of-sh*t" fits the bill too) touchscreen computer on ebay ~$50. I got slackware up and running on it, but unfortunately there's no linux drivers for the touchscreen. I think I'll learn to write my own eventually. "cat /dev/ttyS3" yields human readable information, i.e. "T465,654" and "R020,940" The numbers are the coordinates and the letter is whether or not the screen is being "touched" or "released," and it updates this info at given intervals. I think this should be doable... *I started MUD'ing again. For those of you who don't know, "MUD" is an acronym for "Multiple-User-Dimension/Dungeon/Whatever you want the D to stand for." Essentially, these are the grand-daddies to MMORPG's of today. They are text-based, (yay telnet), and playing online is either an experience for those looking for a game to play, or for some kind of social experience online. The main MUD I play on is SWMUD. Yes, it is based on Star-Wars. Yes, I am a loser. Yes, I don't care. Now that that's out of the way, I feel that SWMUD is prolly the best MUD I've ever played on... I just keep coming back to it. I know there are a couple other people who agree with me... *I somehow managed to pull my trumpet grade out of a deathly tail-spin. As a matter of fact, I'm still eligible for an "A" if I continue this rash of not-suck. *Continued work on the Desktop has brought me the beta release of XFCE. Its quite quick, uniform, and has it's own compmgr built in the xfwm. Now, I note that many window managers have their own xcompmgr in them, but XFCE is small enough to compile in a reasonable amount of time... (as opposed to GNOME or KDE) and it lacks bloat. In fact, I fully intend to explore the possibilities of XFCE on the slacktop here during Music History today. *There's more, but I forgot it. So you'll have to wait. Hah! -Dave
